Dr. Jan Westberry has enjoyed practicing as a general dentist in New Smyrna Beach for over thirty years. She grew up in Wisconsin and attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison, finishing an undergraduate degree at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She graduated from the University of Florida College of Dentistry and became one of the first female dentists in Volusia County. Her oldest daughter, Dr. Wendy Tresher, and her son, Dr. Will Westberry, currently practice with her at Westberry Family Dentistry. Her youngest daughter, Kaitlin, is attending veterinary school.
Dr. Westberry is a board certified forensic dentist and is the chief forensic dentist for two Florida medical examiners districts. She volunteers her time to serve on the state mass disaster team, FEMORS, and the federal mass disaster team, DMORT. Through these organizations, Dr. Westberry had the honor and privilege of helping to identify victims of both 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina.
Dr. Westberry is a member of the American Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and the National Dental Practice Based Research Group. She was the president of the University of Florida College of Dentistry’s College of Alumni and Friends in 2014. She is currently serving on the Ethics Committee of the American Board of Forensic Odontology and on the Board of Directors of the American Society of Forensic Odontology. Dr. Westberry is also a courtesy professor at the University of Florida College of Dentistry.
Dr. Westberry is committed to giving back both in her community and abroad. She has done extensive medical mission work with the US Navy, doing dentistry in several countries in Central and South America as well as Southeast Asia. Her local mission work includes the Dental Baptist Bus, Give Kids a Smile, Pedicare, and Donated Dental Services.
At home Dr. Westberry enjoys reading and agility training with her border collie, Tucker.
Dr. Wendy Tresher joined her mother at Westberry Family Dentistry in 2014, truly making it a family practice. She received a Bachelors of Science in Zoology at the University of Florida and, like Dr. Jan Westberry, graduated from the University of Florida College of Dentistry. Dr. Tresher grew up in New Smyrna Beach and is excited to have the opportunity to return to practice here at home.
Dr. Tresher is a member of the American Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, the American Academy of Facial Esthetics, and the Academy of General Dentistry. She has traveled abroad extensively doing dentistry with various dental and medical organizations. She and her husband currently reside in New Smyrna Beach and enjoy Gator Football, traveling, and spending time outdoors.
Dr. Will Westberry joined his mother and sister at Westberry Family Dentistry in 2016. He received his Bachelor's in Science at the University of Florida. Dr. Will was part of the inaugural class at Lake Erie College of Medicine Dental School. Like Dr. Tresher, Dr. Will is from New Smyrna Beach and is glad to be home and serving the community where he grew up.
Dr. Will is a member of the American Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, and is active in the Volusia-Flagler County Dental Association. He is passionate about dentistry, an avid outdoorsman, and enjoys mixed martial arts and of course, Gator sports.
